Royal Velvet is a Premium Main Mare Book mare who as a young horse was awarded Reserve Champion and Premium ISR/OLD-NA filly. Royal Velvet had a dressage career prior to joining Murder Hollow where she continue her dressage education and began driving training.

Royal Velvet has been schooling and showing in dressage with an adult amateur and was trained to harness by USA pair and four-in-hand world champion, Jimmy Fairclough. Royal Velvet is one of the most pleasurable horses to ride or drive – she is happy to work and has never placed a foot wrong. She is the definition of “amateur friendly”. Royal is happy to hack out or school in the arena and is comfortable driving on the road or in fields as a single or pair.

Royal Velvet’s sire, Royal Prince, was named the USEF Dressage Breeding Sire of the Year for 5 consecutive years and has twice represented the US at the FEI World Championships for Young Horses, including a 4th place finish in 2004, and competed through Prix St. Georges.

Royal Velvet’s dam, Begonia, is by the Selle Français stallion, Bonjour.
